Newfields understands the demands on education establishments
Our dedicated education team has over 15 years’ immigration law experience working in and with the higher education institution (HEI) sector. Our expertise is underpinned by our commitment to providing a proactive, tailored-made service, with clarity on costs.
Our specialist Education team has in-house experience of managing international student support (with specific emphasis on study and post-study visa advisory routes) and supporting central compliance teams; advising universities within a commercial context – specifically audit preparation/response, training; and involvement at the Home Office project managing the graduate route.
Our work for universities
Combining our expertise at Newfields and previous firms, including our in-house experience at a university, our team delivers training to HR, recruitment departments and Academic Schools on sponsorship duties and wider immigration compliance (rights to work and to study). We undertake audit in readiness for UKVI visits and we work with International Student Support and related student service teams on initiatives catered for sponsored students and their family members, including volume visa applications (pre-sessional and others seeking leave to remain) and complex cases. We deliver bespoke and general presentations at both global week initiatives and career events.
Our work for students & graduates
We offer students and graduates an initial consultation without cost, providing advice and options tailored to their circumstances. We deliver bitesize talks at Universities summarising the key Immigration Rules, specifically focusing on graduate and work routes, including settlement and citizenship/nationality.
